Can Cleaner Air Add Years to Your Life?
Can breathing cleaner air extend your life?
A recent article in USA Today suggested that cleaner air may actually be adding 5 years to your life.
This article states:
"Americans are living nearly three years longer than they were only two decades ago, and they owe up to five months of that longevity to cleaner skies, a study shows."
...
"Residents of Pittsburgh and Buffalo, which made the biggest gains against pollution, also increased their life spans the most. People there gained almost 3½ extra years, although life expectancy in both cities remains slightly below average. "
My take on this, toxins whether it comes from our diet, our water, or our air do affect our bodies. Taking a trip to get a weekend of fresh air, either "at the coast" or "at the lake" does significantly help my life and those supercentenarians that I have met. Perhaps it will help yours as well.

Did Earth Experience a Poll Shift Around 705 BC?
Also, before this event, many of the ancient calendars during that time had the "year" as being 360 days. Sometime after this event, these calendars were readjusted to 365 days which we now have today.
So what does this all have to do with immortals and immortality?
As it turns out, the 2,800 year man that I made friends with distinctly remembers a day when he said "the sun set twice that day". He remembers how strange it felt and how strange it was to see such an event take place. And this immortal fondly remembers using a calendar of 6 months of 60 days each month. I could not figure out how he could have used such a calender of 8 months or 360 days when our year is actually 365 and a fraction of days? That is until I found out about this unusual event around 705 BC. Then it all made sense.
So again, we have found someone that can remembers a piece of history that is not well known and almost unwritten in much of our books.

World's oldest woman dies at age 115
"A woman who lived to see five of her great-great grandchildren born and was believed to have been the world's oldest person has died in Portugal at the age of 115, officials said.
Maria de Jesus died Friday morning in an ambulance near the central Portuguese town of Tomar.
She had been listed by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's oldest person. That title now falls to an American, 114-year-old Gertrude Baines, who lives in a Los Angeles nursing home. "
...
"There are now only 82 women and nine men verified as being 110 or older, according to gerontologist Dr. Stephen Coles of the Gerontology Research Group at the University of California, Los Angeles.
But he said there could be hundreds more in places such as China, India or Africa where they would not have caught the attention of the Gerontology Research Group, a small volunteer organization that tracks supercentenarians and verifies their birth dates through birth certificates and other documents. "
...
"Coles said the supercentenarians appear to share one trait that might account for their longevity — they come from families whose members are long-lived. "
...
Before de Jesus, Edna Parker of Indiana had been the world's oldest living person until she died in late November. She was 115 years, 220 days old.
...
Ben Abba's comment to this article:
I believe there is a woman about 150 years living now in India, and 25 men over the age of 200 years living among us right now. Stay tuned for more info on these real supercentarians.

A New Gift for the New Year
Here is an interesting quote from one of those emails floating around the internet:
"To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did."
"When God takes something from your grasp, He's not punishing you, but
merely opening your hands to receive something better."
Concentrate on this sentence:
'The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.'
Something good will happen to you today, Something that you have been waiting to hear.
Here's to you reaching at least one of your dreams in 2009, and perhaps all of them!
Happy New Years!
